LTDC AND LIMKOKWING LESOTHO EMPOWER CONTENT CREATORS THROUHG RE BONTSE LESOTHO CAMPAIGN

Through the Re Bontše Lesotho campaign, the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation, in partnership with Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Lesotho, is empowering Basotho content creators to become digital ambassadors of the Kingdom. The nationwide capacity-building programme equipped young storytellers with practical skills to authentically showcase Lesotho’s tourism, culture, and heritage to local and international audiences.

As part of the campaign, participants from all 10 districts were invited to submit a promotional video of not more than 120 seconds highlighting a local attraction, cultural tradition, or tourism experience. Approximately 100 submissions were received, and eligibility for the training was extended to all participants who submitted videos.

The initiative brought together aspiring content creators with the aim of equipping them with the skills to professionally produce high-quality content that showcases the beauty of Lesotho and its unique experiences, with the intention of attracting international, regional, and domestic tourists to visit and experience the country’s tourism products.

The nationwide training of content creators successfully concluded Re Bontše Lesotho content creator’s capacity building programme, which officially kicked off in Qacha’s Nek on 13 April 2026 and ended on 28 April 2026 in Maseru.

The training programme forms part of LTDC’s broader mission to promote domestic tourism and position Basotho youth as tourism ambassadors capable of showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of Lesotho to local, regional, and international audiences.

Under the Re Bontše Lesotho campaign, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of content creation and digital storytelling. The sessions focused on defining what a content creator is, the qualities that characterize a successful creator, and how to create authentic stories that connect with audiences and leave a lasting impact.

Facilitators from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Lesotho equipped participants with essential skills in visual communication, digital storytelling, audience engagement, and content production for social media platforms. The training also emphasized professionalism and ethical content creation, including copyright, consent, and responsible storytelling.

In addition, participants received practical training in video production, including capturing quality visuals, content editing, and the effective use of mobile devices, cameras, audio applications, and editing software to produce compelling tourism content that professionally showcases Lesotho’s unique attractions and experiences.

The programme concluded on 28 April 2026 with participants from Maseru, Berea, and Thaba-Tseka attending the final training session. Throughout the nationwide rollout, approximately 90 content creators from across the country benefited from the initiative.

Speaking during the Re Bontš’e Lesotho Content Creation Capacity Building Training, a participant Ms. Ntlhokomeleng Bulane said the programme is helping young creatives gain practical skills to become competent content creators by teaching them how to produce quality and marketable content. She added that the training will help market Lesotho tourism by showcasing the country’s natural beauty, adventure activities and Basotho culture through storytelling and social media platforms.

Ms Bulane also noted that the training enhanced storytelling and marketing skills, while opening opportunities for employment and partnerships in the creative industry, citing Junior Kots Motaung and Mavele as examples of successful local content creators.

While addressing the media, LTDC Head of Strategic Marketing, Mr. Phomolo Lebotsa, said the Re Bontše Lesotho campaign seeks to build a positive and compelling image of Lesotho across digital platforms. He emphasized that the country’s tourism story is most powerfully told by Basotho themselves, through authentic experiences and personal narratives that reflect the true essence of the Kingdom.

He further noted that the initiative will not only empower content creators to showcase Lesotho’s breathtaking landscapes and unique tourism experiences, but also contribute towards preserving and promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage while positioning Lesotho as a must-visit tourism destination.

Following the training sessions, participants are expected to produce high-quality promotional videos showcasing tourism attractions, culture, heritage, and unique experiences from their respective districts. The best submissions from each district will be selected based on creativity, storytelling, originality, and production quality by a panel of judges comprising representatives from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Lesotho, the sponsoring company of the respective district, and LTDC.

The Re Bontše Lesotho campaign continues to demonstrate LTDC’s commitment to strengthening tourism promotion through innovation, youth empowerment, and digital media while encouraging Basotho to rediscover and proudly showcase their country.
