ROOF OF AFRICA 2025: WHERE CHAMPIONS CONQUER THE KINGDOM IN THE SKY
The 56th edition of the annual Roof of Africa Hard Enduro will be hosted in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho from 19th – 22nd November 2025. Annually, the event attracts global attention to Lesotho’s rugged beauty and pulsating adventure offerings. The event continues to boost tourism by increasing demand for accommodation, hospitality services, fuel, retail services, and temporary employment across the tourism value chain.
This year marks a historic milestone, as the 2025 edition serves as the Grand Finale of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Hard Enduro World Championship, placing Lesotho firmly at the center stage of international motorsport. More than four hundred (400) riders from fifteen (15) countries including Australia, Russia, Germany, China, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe will take on Lesotho’s legendary rugged mountain landscapes, renowned for pushing endurance athletes to their limits.. This year’s theme, “Where Champions Conquer the Kingdom in the Sky,” celebrates the race’s elite spirit and the nation’s towering landscapes. Lesotho’s top riders are not short of leading the pack on home ground in silver, bronze and iron classes; shining a spotlight on rising local participation.
Adding to this year’s landmark achievements, ZMG Isuzu Lesotho joins as the local official transport sponsor, highlighting strengthened domestic corporate support.
The Roof of Africa features four competitive classes Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Iron tested over Time Trials, preceded by a Mass Parade in the capital city of Maseru on Wednesday before heading out to the demanding mountain stages covering up to one hundred and eighty (180) km per day. The race requires exceptional fitness, technical skill, mental endurance, and resilience under extreme conditions.

Since its inception in 1967, the Roof of Africa has transformed Lesotho into a signature adventure tourism attraction; it is a significant economic driver. Supported by the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC), the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, and the Lesotho Off-Road Association (LORA) as the custodian and organizer of the event, the race is held annually and enjoys patronage of members of the Royal Family, Government departments, and international dignitaries.
